Just a few minutes from downtown Savannah the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge hosts amazing animals in all seasons. Your leader Diana Churchill, local birding columnist, will lead you around the Refuge, starting early in the morning to catch alligator and bird activity. Alligators live here year ‘round, but other wildlife is spotted only in this season. Kites are spectacular raptors that earn their name by the quality of their flight. Their full name, swallowtail kites, tells even more about their beauty, but seeing them hovering, floating, darting over the open freshwater wetlands is a very special sight. We’ll be on the lookout for other summer residents and visitors, too. Meet at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. Tour size 5-12 people; Fee of $20/person includes use of binoculars and spotting scope. Call or Click for reservations. | |
