Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's

Where do you run your explorations?
WiSE programs are offered at a variety of locations all offering a look at natural systems in action. Sites include several area wildlife refuges, Skidaway Island, Tybee Island, Ft. McAllister State Park, Ogeechee & Savannah Rivers, Ebenezer Creek, and Cumberland Island National Seashore. We vary the site in order to not overuse any one resource and to suit your particular interests and goals.

When do coastal explorations run?
Whenever you want to go, as long as we can make appropriate arrangements. At least one week notice is preferred for individuals, and required for groups of seven or more. But if you make a last minute decision to go exploring, we will make every effort to accommodate your request. Or, join a Scheduled Walk On the Wild Side.

Can I see alligators AND the beach?
Yes! Explorations may be combined as modular units. Suggestions for combinations are listed with individual exploration descriptions. Others are possible. Just ask.

Where do the programs start?
Your exploration will start at the site you choose. You will be provided with detailed directions to the site, where your naturalist guide will meet you. If you need transportation for your group, we may be able to arrange that.

How many people will be exploring with me?
Custom, personalized programs, where you will have the undivided attention of your guide, will be operated just for your group, whether 2 or 35 people. Concurrent sessions may be possible for larger groups. Scheduled Walks On the Wild Side have a minimum of 4-5, maximum of 12-20, depending on the program.

Is there a discount for larger groups?
Yes. Request our special rates for groups of seven or more on a custom program. Tell us the size and type of your group.

Why should we choose a Wilderness Southeast exploration?
You'll see more and learn more. Wilderness Southeast guides enjoy people, possess an unusual depth of knowledge, and relish sharing their knowledge with all ages and backgrounds. They all have a passion for the area you'll explore together. For an experience beyond the norm, ask Wilderness Southeast to customize your natural experience.
